Overview

Owakudani was created about 3,000 years ago on the site of the eruption and explosion crater of Hakone Volcano Kamiyama, and even now you can see white fumes that smell like hydrogen sulfide rising from various places. Due to increased volcanic activity in 2015, volcanic gas has become stronger, so there are areas where entry is prohibited. People with respiratory problems or heart conditions should be careful when visiting. Its specialty is the black egg, which is said to extend your life by seven years if you eat just one. Boiled eggs with black shells made from the heat of the hot springs are also famous as souvenirs. You can also enjoy the spectacular view from the window of the ropeway heading towards Owakudani. Hakone Kowakien Yunessun is the best amusement park in Hakone.

It features not only authentic hot spring open-air baths, but also unusual baths such as Rodeo Mountain, cave baths, and dragon waterside baths, as well as a variety of baths full of amusement, such as doctor fish foot baths, wine baths, and authentic coffee baths. You can also use the currently popular sauna in your swimsuit. You can also reserve a private bath in advance by telephone, where you can enjoy hot spring water in a private space. Early reservations are recommended.
